LEAP + TAPE TOY + Bad Luck Baby
Raucous indie pop-rockers LEAP present the ONE WAY OUT tour and are coming to EM2! LEAP is a plethora of rock and roll-induced extremes; a supersonic dance through the depths of lead-singer Jacky’s twisted and brilliant mind. To kick-off the evening LEAP will be supported by Dutch band Tape Toy! An energetic mix of grunge and the occasional synthesizers. In addition, local alt-rock powerhouse Bad Luck Baby will be joining us for this very promising evening!
LEAP of faith
Combining indie grunge, heavy beats, and the odd sprinkle of electronica, Jacky’s unique vocals take you on a dive through London’s underbelly and his own struggles with mental health.
LEAP are on the verge, in every sense of the word. Bubbling with anticipation, whether it’s the palpable energy at their explosive sold out shows across the UK and Europe, or landing in Shazam’s top 50 viral playlist, there is a growing sense of impending rumble. Fronted by one of the captivating, natural-born front-men in recent years, Jack Scott’s bi-polar disorder only adds to a raucous world in perpetual boiling point.
LEAP’s music resonates with fans of Nothing But Thieves, 21 Pilots and The Black Keys. Get ready for a steamy poprock show that will leave you longing for more!
TAPE TOY
Consistency is key. And so it is possible that you also have a few silent, dark years full of universal and personal suffering and surviving the image of bubblegum grunge. But now all hesitation has been overcome, and we do away with the heavyness. The bubblegum may stick to the bottom of a school desks, while the grunge will remain.
TAPE TOY is looking towards the future. Their sound is enriched with an exstensive collection of pedals and synthesizers that allow them to really tap into the melodies. The exciting live performances do not only make you jump, they also make you feel. Catchy like a summer hit, suave like your favorite rapper and wild like Woodstock ’99. Meanwhile, the lyrics take you back to those hours of overthinking in your bed in a stuffy attic room.
2024 has a lot in store for TAPE TOY. Signed to Mattan Records, new music has been made, enough to fill an entire album. In addition, a great live show in the Melkweg is on the schedule (December 14)… ‘Anyone, Anything’ will offer you a first taste of the new music. A single with which TAPE TOY immediately introduce their fresh mix of cool, heavy samples riffs and the still ultra personal lyrics.
Bad Luck Baby
Bad Luck Baby is a five-piece powerhouse and not unfamiliar to the EM2 stage. They are the result of a perfectly timed misfortune: vocalist Cath Harryvan and drummer Ian Wijma met after both losing their wallets on a night out, setting the stage for Bad Luck Baby. The band embraces the unpredictable nature of life, the ups and downs translated into powerful, fiery alt-rock. Bad Luck Baby tells stories – about despair, happiness, and the human existence.
Taking cues from bands like Paramore, De Staat, and Wolf Alice, Bad Luck Baby has crafted a sound uniquely their own: tight guitar riffs meet gloomy synths and vocals full of raw emotion. The result is a well-oiled machine, delivering unmatched energy in a (thought-)provoking, resonating performance.
